2004 Trip
For the 2004 trip, there were nine children and eight adults (three adults went ahead as our advance party). The team went to Chiang Mai, Thailand for a total of six days from 30 Nov to 5 Dec. That year's programme was very different from the previoys year's because we decided that the team should spend time at only two places so that the children could settle in fast, adjust to their new environment and with a longer stay at each place, form friendships with the Thai children. The two villages that we visited were Lahu villages, namely MaeYa Min village and Santi village (KKMC's original outreach). At MaeYa Min, since it was still school term in Thailand, the team went to the government school in the area to teach English to about 180 children and youths during the day. English was taught through skits, songs, crafts and games. The nights were mainly outreach programme which attracted the adults from the village. Our children evangelised to the villagers through dance, songs, mime, skits, music and testimonies. For relaxation, we brought the children to a nearby hot spring for food and shopping (where they bought gifts and souvenirs at bargained prices) and also visited a peaceful lake where we fed fishes and watched a sunset. We ended our trip with a campfire on the last night.
