2019 PRAYER WATCH

We come together to pray that

WE AT KKMC WILL BE FAITHFUL DISCIPLES IN AUTHENTIC COMMUNITY

ENGAGED IN LOVING OUTREACH & BOLD WITNESS

TO THE GLORY OF GOD!

FAITHFUL in DISCIPLESHIP (SPIRIT AND TRUTH)

MEDITATE on GOD’S WORD

John 4:24, 2 Tim 3:16-17

SHARE

Your heart on where we are on FAITHFUL DISCIPLESHIP – where we have grown and where we need to grow.

PRAY

1. CONFESSION & REPENTANCE

As the Spirit leads and with consideration of what members have shared.

Consider also: whether we are worshipping “in Spirit and in truth” during service time; we have done all we can to faithfully study God’s Word; we have adequately fulfilled our responsibility to nurture the children and youth and follow up with new Christians, that they would be God-focused and not world-inclined.

2. MINISTRIES’ INITIATIVES & CONCERNS

Discipleship & Nurture, Worship & Music, Children’s Ministry, Youth Ministry, Young Adults, WSCS.

For KKMC to be a people who pray continually and through prayer, move to act on God’s commands.

3. GOD’S PEOPLE IN KKMC

Children and Youth.

4. COMMITMENT

That as a church and as individuals we will commit to grounding ourselves in God’s Word and living out what we learn.

SHARE

Your heart on how we have or have not been AUTHENTIC IN COMMUNITY.

PRAY

1. CONFESSION & REPENTANCE

As the Spirit leads and with consideration of what members have shared.

Consider also: how pervasive is the issue of people having only a superficial connection to church or who see their faith as a private matter; how active are we in supporting our members through their relationship challenges and life issues.

2. OUR MINISTRIES’ INITIATIVE & CONCERNS

Family Life, LifeGroup Ministry, Care Team, Seniors Ministry and Pastoral Team; Ministry work – Joystall, funeral & bereavement; visits: homebound, hospital, hospice; OIKOS, weddings.

3. GOD’S PEOPLE IN KKMC

Pray for families in KKMC: salvation of family members, family life grounded in God’s word.

PRAY

1. CONFESSION & REPENTANCE

As the Spirit leads and with consideration of what members have shared.

Consider also: how far we have come in community outreach and how we can do better; how open we are to serve when we perceive differences between ourselves and the persons we want to reach; reticence in sharing the gospel.

2. OUR MINISTRIES’ INITIATIVEs & CONCERNS

Pray specifically for the ministries: Outreach & Social Concerns, Kindergarten, 2nd and 60th BB, 45th GB, KK Community Services (2 FSCs and Child Protection Prog) and the ministry initiatives of: Community Blessing Effort, initiatives to bless the community, community relations, ecumenical relations, interfaith, migrant workers.

BOLD IN WITNESS (NATION & WORLD)

SHARE

Your heart on whether we have been BOLD IN WITNESS.

PRAY

1. CONFESSION & REPENTANCE

As the Spirit leads and with consideration of what members have shared.

Consider also: How motivated are we to evangelise? How involved is the general congregation in supporting the missionaries and the missions work?  How might we have missed opportunities to share the Gospel with others? Have we been too reluctant to get out of our comfort zone in terms of participating in missions trips?

2. OUR CONVICTION & GOD’S EMPOWERMENT

Witness & Evangelism, Missions/MPC (see next point as well).

3. GOD’S PEOPLE IN THE FIELD

Pray for our missionaries in the field – open doors; open hearts to hear the gospel; hedge of protection; physical, emotional and spiritual well-being.

PRAY for the CHURCH MINISTRIES

FAITHFUL DISCIPLES

Discipleship and Nurture

The focus in 2019 is to grow and nurture Faithful Disciples in line with KKMC’s Vision Statement. Faithful discipleship is the basis for becoming an authentic community, engaged in loving outreach and bold witness to the glory of God.

The D&N Committee seeks to make the study of the Bible accessible to all members, whatever their stage of spiritual maturity.

Pray:

- For an awakening of hearts to discipleship; to yearn for a real and living relationship with God and seeking to learn how to correctly handle the Word of God.

- Against spiritual apathy and complacency, and for our church members to desire and take steps to study the Bible and understand the relevance of God’s Word in their lives.

- For good response to the Women’s Bible Study, Disciple 1 and 3 courses, and the new course called Discipleship Explored.

- For God to raise up more trained Bible study teachers in our church who are able to lead, teach and facilitate open and honest discussions on spiritual and contemporary issues; who can help members to apply the Word of God in their lives, and truly be faithful disciples of Jesus Christ.

Children’s Ministry

Thanksgiving for 2018:

- Provision of sufficient volunteers for DK classes, LB and LP.

- For the faithful service of all volunteers and helpers in 2018.

- The safe return, from Lahu, of the DK6 students, and the experience they had.

- Successful rollout of all the events planned for 2018.

- Supportive parents in the respective class events.

Pray for:

- The plan to introduce a simplified version of the ‘Lamb Programme’ to the 5 and 6-year olds (LP1 and LP2), that the lessons on the concept of Christ the Lamb would be clearly understood.

Pray for enough volunteers to run the programme.

- Parents’ involvement and partnership with the teachers in building a biblical foundation and love for Jesus in their children.

- The teachers in their personal spiritual growth, and for wisdom in their weekly lesson preparation, to make the learning fun and interesting.

- The children to grow in head and heart knowledge, and love for God.

- The CM committee to have creative ideas that engage the children – for special events like Easter, Missions Week, etc. Pray for more volunteers, especially for the worship team.

Young Adults Ministry

YA KKonnect seeks God's guidance and direction in building up a YA (Young Adults) community here in KKMC in 2019.

Pray for:

- God to move the young adults in KKMC to come together to worship, study the Word, and to fellowship as a community.

- The community to be a place for young adults to experience a sense of belonging, to one another and to the church.

Youth Ministry

We have seen God doing a great work among the youths again in the latest Youth Camp, both as individuals and as a community.

Pray:

- That we will be able to follow up and water the seeds that have been planted in their hearts well, helping them to see God’s truths in action in their everyday lives and also building up a community of support to run this race together.

- For our partnership with the parents of our youths, that we will be able to work more closely and effectively in raising the youths to be young men and women after God’s own heart.

This year, we also look forward to presenting our original musical.

Pray:

That all our preparation in the script, songs, acting, music, logistics, admin, etc. will go smoothly, and many will be touched by the love of God through the presentation of the musical.

Women's Society of Christian Service

Pray that:

- WSCS will continue to be relevant to all the ladies at KKMC.

- We may journey together as sisters in Christ, lovingly supporting each other and the church.

- God will grant the WSCS exco wisdom and creativity as they plan their activities.

AUTHENTIC COMMUNITY

Family Life

The Family Life Committee is organizing courses and support groups to equip the church with head and heart knowledge to respond to the critical issues that families face in current day Singapore. We pray that God plants in each of our hearts a calling so that KKMC can stand together as an authentic community that reaches out to each other in love, grace and understanding, and address and respond to these issues as faithful disciples of Christ.

Pray:

- That God will guide and inspire our thoughts, actions and words, so that we can be bold witnesses of Christ's love to all.

- That we may be instruments of God so that no child, sibling, parent, spouse nor elderly may feel alone, helpless or without hope.

LIFEGroup Ministry

Thanksgiving:

For all members, and the growth and authentic relationships they have developed in their LIFEGroups.

Pray:

- The LIFEGroup Ministry including all LIFEGroup leaders and members, to work towards KKMC’s vision of “authentic community”.

- More to see the need for participation in LIFEGroups, and to make time to be part of one.

- The Committee as we look into how the needs of the special groups can be met, working with other KKMC ministries.

- The planned activities for 2019, especially in the equipping of the LIFEGroup leaders.

LOVING OUTREACH

Boys’ Brigade 2nd Company

In 2019, we will be focusing more on intentional outreach with the boys. We will likely to have more of the mentoring approach (Senior Officers with Junior Officers, Officers with Boys/Primers).

Pray for God to bless the initiatives. We also want to be able to continue and sustain the good relationship with our stakeholders – school, church and parents. May God continue to watch over us and be the centre of all that we do in BB 2nd Coy.

Boys’ Brigade 60th Company

- As our current officers and teachers move on to new stages of university life and career, we need to grow a new generation of leaders in 2019. Pray that God would raise the right people to continue the work.

- Our key aim for the year is to build a more relational environment in the Company - between Teachers, Officers, Primers, Boys, Parents. We thank God for the many alumni who have volunteered to step up in different ways and pray that they would be a godly influence on the younger students.

Girls’ Brigade 45th Company

- Pray that God will give us a healthy recruitment of new recruits in January 2019. May God handpick girls to join GB and those whom He has chosen will get GB as their CCA.

- Our theme verse for the year is on Unity – Psalm 133.  Please pray for God to download His message to us for devotions and that through devotions and various GB programs, girls will come to know and experience Jesus’ heart and prayer in John 17, and grow in true unity and Christian love that glorifies God.

Kampong Kapor Community Services (KKCS)

Thanksgiving:

- For the assistance KKCS provides to members of our community who are in need.

- For KKMC’s part in the history of KKCS, and the support KKMC continues to give to KKCS.

- For the team of dedicated social workers and other professionals.

- For the trust the Government has in KKCS, including providing all the necessary funding.

Pray for:

- The community to be able to cope with the stresses of living in a fast-paced society.

- The work of KKCS to yield positive outcomes and impact in the lives of the people served.

- Strength and perseverance for the KKCS team and organisation.

- Stronger link between KKMC and KKCS; more volunteers, joint projects/activities.

BOLD WITNESS

Witness & Evangelism

Foremost in our minds and hearts is the commission in Acts 1:8 (NIV) - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

Pray that, with the power of the Holy Spirit, we would be bold witnesses, to seek every opportunity to speak out for God, to share our faith, and to bring others to faith in Christ.

In 2019, we want to make training courses more accessible to the church community and provide ongoing support for our roles as evangelists. Key initiatives include adapting 'Becoming a Contagious Christian' (BCC) training for different age groups in the church, organising a follow-up workshop for previous BCC participants and running Alpha alongside Singapore Alpha Everywhere 2019.

Pray for God's wisdom and leading in the design & execution of the initiatives, His anointing on the people organising them, and that among participants, many hearts will be stirred and will respond.

Missions

Pray:

- For succession and leadership development as we will need to elect a new chairperson in the second half of 2019.

- That God will help us encourage and guide the next generation of KKMC missionaries. We are journeying with a few church members who are waiting upon the Lord to serve in missions and Christian ministry.

- For wisdom as we explore other possible fields for KKMC's involvement.

PRAY for the LANGUAGE MINISTRIES

Mandarin Ministry

Our aim is for all our Life Groups to be fully engaged in outreach to our neighbourhood. Goals that we have set in the 4 core areas: Faithful in Discipleship, Authentic in Community, Loving in Outreach, Bold in Witness.

Major initiatives: Participation in the Celebration of Hope event on 18 May 2019.

Pray that:

- Life Groups be instrumental in touching lives and building strong relationships with members.

- God will raise up follow-up leaders to nurture young believers in His Word so that they will be firmly grounded and grow in their faith.

- Congregation be convicted of the power of prayer, and to commit to pray for the church and grow in their prayer life, for without prayer we can do nothing.

- Hearts are ready to be discipled and make disciples of all nations. Members are inspired to fully reach out to the neighbourhood.

- A mighty harvest of the neighbourhood to come in 2019, and His people ready to reap the harvest.
