It has been said that a church without youth, is a church without a future. With this in mind, KKMC’s Youth Ministry (YM) serves youths between the age of 13-18, guiding youths to walk closely in the Lord. Our youths Danyl, Cervone & Alyssa, as well as one of our YM leaders Paul share their experiences of being in KKMC’s Youth Ministry.

Danyl Ho, Youth 1:

YM should be a place where nobody feels afraid of things that they share. We should all take care of one another and reach out to each other when they need help. Our Lifegroup leaders are also here for us. Every Sunday, we get a chance to come to church—or click on a zoom invite—to worship and learn about God. Worship and Lifegroup sessions started to become more relatable and I took them a lot more seriously. As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another (Proverbs 27:17). Together we will grow in faith as an authentic community in the body of Christ.

Cervone Seah, Youth 5:

I was glad to have the opportunity to serve God once again at this year’s Youth Sunday. It was my first time doing the mixing and producing of songs. Initially, I was not sure if I would be able to do a good job, since I had only recently picked up the skill, but God guided me as I worked on the songs, and it served as a timely reminder that I should do all things for God’s glory. Overall, I enjoyed the entire process despite having faced challenges along the way.

Alyssa Ting, Youth 6:

I am very thankful that God has placed me in this YM community where I was able to grow and mature over the last six years. I am very blessed to have met many people who were willing to journey with me, and helped to ground me in my faith. Like many others, I have experienced many ups and downs, but thanks to the YM community, I have been able to pick myself up each time.

As I end my time in YM, I wanted to share that it is very important to ground yourself in this community and to come with the purpose of seeking God every time. Waking up early on Sundays was never the easiest, but finding the right reason to attend church made it a lot easier. No community is perfect, and neither is ours, but nonetheless, I have seen this YM flourish over the past six years, and I’m confident that this is only the beginning of God’s plan for this community.

Paul Huang, Youth 4 LG Leader:

My decision to return and serve in the YM was part of a natural progression, as I have followed the current Youth 4s from Children’s Ministry to YM. In the process, I’ve gained meaningful relationships, and also a deep sense of fulfillment that this is part of God’s plan for me.

By being a part of the YM, I strive to bring Him glory in the way I teach, conduct myself, and how I interact in this community. I also hope to show others the same openness and warm friendship that I had received when I was a youth, to encourage and display the love of God’s family.

For our youths, remember 1 Timothy 4:12: “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, and in purity”. You are never too young to model the Christian walk for others to follow; you are an inspiration to your peers in school and church, and even to your family members and YM leaders.
